One Step at a Time is a non profit trust (Reg. No.: VRT-4-00039-2016-17) with 80g and 12a exemption certificates - that works in innovative ways towards social inclusion and development of people with disabilities, and to foster positive attitudes towards disability and inclusion in present day India. Our unique initiatives help people with disabilities accept themselves positively, adapt to the challenges, and rise above their limitations - to truly live to their best potential.
We started in June, 2015 as a support group for amputees, and over the last 2 years we have grown to extend support to people with physical, visual, speech and hearing disabilities. Our support group is a safe space for the community members to discuss concerns that arise around living with a disability. In the single year that we have existed as a non-profit we have conducted truly unique Adapted Fitness, Adapted Dance and Theatre programs and workshops, advocacy projects & disability awareness programs. Through our efforts we envision to create a society that accepts people with disabilities, adapts itself to enable their true potential, and in unison - rise, harnessing the abilities of this large 'Visibly Invisible' community in India.
